-reduces the number and severity of acne blemishes
-penetrates clogged pores to clear blackheads and whiteheads
-for all skin types including sensitive skin (YAY!!)
How much I like it: 5 out of 5 stars
Pro:
-fast acting
-will not irritate sensitive skin
Con:
-price (about $35 on Ulta)
Ingredient(s):
-5.5% benzoyl peroxide
-0.4% micro-exfoliating LHA
My take on this product:
Let's start out with my sensitive skin: I work best with benzoyl peroxide products like this La Roche-Posay. I basically break out like usual when I use salicylic acid acne spot treatments.
There are 2 major popular active ingredients in acne spot treatments: benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. I would recommend those who are new to acne spot treatments to go to the drug store and buy the Clean & Clear spot treatments that retail for much less. You can experiment by putting a small amount on your face and see the results of each.
This is my go-to product whenever I have a whitehead/pimples. This is my holy-grail acne treatment and this is my third tube (says how much I love this product)!
ZAP! Pimple be gone...... This acne treatment works like magic! It effectively reduces the size of my white head usually within a nighttime of sleep. The pimple is usually gone within 3 days.
Another pro to this product is the addition of LHA (Lipo-hydroxy Acid) that will help buff away the dead skin and even out skin texture.
The Effaclar Duo is not harsh; however, there is LHA that has exfoliating benefits that will make you more sensitive to sunlight. Make sure you put on sunscreen after using this product. Also, if you are experiencing irritation, put the product on in smaller amounts and using it less often. I only use it at night time; nevertheless, you can use it in the morning if you have that need.
This product does work to clean out excess sebum from your blackheads. However, it DOES NOT get rid of blackheads in any means. I noticed a differenced in how dark my blackheads after the first night but despite the success of the first night, after continuously putting it on the amount of my black heads stayed the same. I wouldn't complain because they do look better than before using this product.
I found that this product takes a longer time to clean out cystic acne (large nodular type of acne-feels like lumps under the skin).
How I use it: Put a small amount of the Effaclar Duo on your acne spot after you washed your face. It blends it clear so you don't have to worry about having pink dots on your face! :) Then, put on moisturizer.
Bottom Line: This is one of the best acne spot treatments out there and is definitely worth every cent!
Let's end with: Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Albert Einstein
Enjoy enjoy & feel free to ask any questions!
